After a fantastic weekend in the highlands (gig in the Clachaig) followed by a night in the northwest for Marty’s birthday (25 again apparently) we returned refreshed for a great night headlining the launch of the Acoustic Edinburgh Festival. A great line up of acts including our pals Floozie Soo (who poached Hugh on drums for a few songs) and the amazing Hoochie Fig. Great to play ‘unplugged’ in such an intimate space.
The Clachaig gig was great fun – as well as the quality scran and the best whisky shelf in Scotland, the staff were great and we’ve been asked back to play the beer festival in February.
Bizarre audience though – we sold CDs and got a great response from half the audience, the other half were stony-faced waiting for us to play “Will ye go lassie go” which unfortunately we hadn’t learned. Douglas Kay had come up for ‘the crack’ and we roped him into playing a few tracks between our sets to soothe the crowd with his lilting ballads. Next time we’ll get him to bring his accordian. (no really).
We’re back in the Jazz Bar this saturday so hopefully see you there!
