Thanks to everyone who made it on saturday first of all. Henry’s was rammed as predicted and it was a great night all round, with a storming set from Amplifico and a great warm up from Eoghan Colghan. Amplifico and ourselves did our covers of each others tunes with our slow-down in “All Your Sins” reaching the point where even I’d thought Hugh’d fallen asleep behind the kit. After much discussion we reckon the studio versions will be available as MP3s at some point. Meanwhile, you can get very limited edition CDs signed by all of Amplifico (and us) with original cover art by Donna from the Amplifico web site. There was a very healthy no. of Gecko Groovers in amongst the sea of ‘Fico Fans so thanks for coming along : )
We’re back in The Jazz Bar this friday and in further collaborative spirit we’re excited to have Tom Pickles sitting in to blow some flute with us during our two sets. He plays with quality Ska outfit Bombskare, dabbles with DoPE and plays an incredible jazz flute (and sax – sheesh, just ‘cos they reckon the fingering’s the same – next he’ll be playing bass). Not to be missed! Band on ’round midnight
Also, if you can’t stay up that late you can catch us doing a short acoustic set at The Lot (west end of the grassmarket) as part of the Edinburgh Rush Festival press launch (FREE ENTRY) where we’re representing Acoustic Edinburgh who are promoting an incredible pair of acts on May 28th.
Talking of DoPE, we’re equally excited that MC Solareye and DJ Default of the DPE have confirmed for the Highland Musical Safari completing what is going to be an awesome line up for our 3 night highland tour with Amplifico. Already lots of people have confirmed that they’re coming so we reckon the highlanders will be in for a bit of a shock. Should we get a large bus? You think we should get a large bus…. We’ll get a large bus. }: )
